THE FIRES OF HELL – walking theatre company production at Bonawe Furnace
The Fires of hell – the walking theatre company
The work at Bonawe Iron Furnace was divided very distinctly into two, local Gaelic people were recruited to cut timber and make charcoal in the woods, and a team of English speaking skilled workers were brought in to operate the furnace. Take a theatrical tour of the furnace and explore the different cultures of these two groups and the challenges they faced in working together.
The Walking Theatre Company, under the leadership of the inimitable Sadie Dixon Spain, and her amazing band of actors, who seem to follow her up hill, down dale, in rain, sun, midges, and haunted houses, are bringing the world of the early 19th century work at Bonawe to life. And you are not only invited, but some of you will probably get involved.
Sadie’s unique but entrancing take on theatre productions brings the audience into the story, which are drawn from the intimate details of the places and history that her productions are located.
So often these are single performances, or brief visits, but this summer we are fortunate to have a series of dates to choose from, so there is no excuse to join in.
Event is performed at 2pm and is included in admission to the Historic Scotland owned Bonawe Furnace.

SO much FUN !!
The company had everyone, of all ages, enthralled in the story of the furnace and the people who worked there, and the setting could not be bettered.
Congrats on another job well done.
Am seriously tempted to come along for the last performance on the First of September to see what embellishments you have added from the feedback through the run of plays.
We need you to be playing at every castle in North Argyll each week, there are so many stories to be told.
