Mull Theatre – welcome return to Benderloch

Arts and Culture in Ardchattan presents

Opium Eater

by Andrew Dallmeyer

1820, a seedy Edinburgh hovel… …ThomasDeQuincey, the flawed English man of letters and laudanum addict, sits shivering in his dingy lodgings beneath a Grassmarket brothel.

Driven by demons from without and within, he depends on his simple-minded servant Willie to bring him the narcotic he craves whilst he scribbles desperately to meet a deadline which has already passed.

Victory Hall, Benderloch

Laugh-out-loud funny and deeply moving…utterly compelling

“… combines an exuberant eccentricity with a genuine passion for words and a powerful economy of expression” Time Out

… one of the best things I have ever seen in fringe theatre” The Times
