Paths and trails around Ardchattan – your chance to contribute.
2nd April : This needs to be emailed this weekend to get your views to the planners.
The Core Paths Plan
All over Scotland, communities are deciding on what paths, trails, walks and routes are important in their area. For a number of years consultations have taken place to agree routes that are acceptable to
the public and landowners. The final plan for our area is now available and this is your chance to contribute to it.
Do not just assume these paths will all happen, they may well be dropped if they do not have active and positive support. It is up to you.

These pathways will be an asset to locals and tourists alike. Once they are adopted, they become almost like ‘rights of way’ and they cannot be obstructed or built upon. Once adopted, it is hoped that local communities, Councils, voluntary bodies and government agencies will develop them. This would involve signposting, improving the surface in difficult terrain, providing seating. Some could be left undisturbed – it would be up to the local community to decide.
Why don’t you look up the map to see if your favourite walk is on it?
All details can be found at www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/oldp/docSelectorAction.do
You must select 2010 Core Path Plan – Finalised.
be patient, this can take an age to work, and often the map fails first time, but please persevere, and use the list on the doc file below to find our paths.
There is a comments and objections form that you can complete to either support or object to the paths selected. As well as paths there are launch points and aspirational paths, i.e. paths that could become core paths at a later date.
To make it easier, please find a comments form (HERE doc file) Â with a list of all the core paths, launch points and aspirational paths in our area on it. You can then simply go down the list and support or object as you wish.
Remember, this is your final chance to have your say. If paths are not supported now, and there are objections, these paths could be dropped and would no longer be protected or have the potential to be improved.
The deadline for comments is 4th April 2011.
It will be great if you can find time to help develop what could be a wonderful asset for our community.
