John Nelson is retracing the route of his 4th great grandfather to recover his Clydesdale mare, stolen from his farm at New Cumnock, Ayrshire exactly 200 years ago.

The chase to retrieve his prize horse covered over 150 miles, and ended in a glen in Ardchattan, in the area that was called Benderloch – but over 100 years before the settlement with the name was even conceived.

On the 23rd of May he will be in modern day Benderloch complete with Clydesdale horses, having retraced as much of the original route as he is able.
