When Martha Payne started her blog illustrating in simple clear detail the paucity of her school dinners she cannot have expected that several days later there would be newspapers around the world quoting it, with over 100,000 people visiting her blog : http://neverseconds.blogspot.co.uk in such a short time. She certainly is the talk of every town : Jamie Oliver tweeted her father : ”Shocking but inspirational blog. Keep going, big love from Jamie”

Inspired by this article and conversations on our local Argyll online newspaper Douglas MacKenzie, chair of Barcaldine Parent Council, decided to check out lunch at his local primary for himself.

With permission from the staff he joined the pupils today. We are very glad to report that he found the youngsters at Barcaldine were happy with their portion sizes and he even managed to persuade one member of staff to give up her lunch for him to be able to sample the food himself. His report is here
