Repair work to the Connel Bridge approach road – 14th December

From BEAR – Following the recent investigations in to the early deterioration of the recent resurfacing works on the A828 approach to Connel Bridge, remedial works have been programmed for the week commencing the 14th December.

Works will be carried out over three nights between 7pm to 7am, Monday night to Thursday morning. The A828 carriageway will be subject to Traffic Management during these times, with traffic lights and a 10mph convoy system in place. Due to the one way system on the Connel Bridge, traffic will be held for a short period either side whilst works are being carried out adjacent to the narrowest section. It is anticipated that this should last for no longer than 30 minutes and will occur on only one of the three nights. This aspect of the works will be carried out towards the end of the shift, in the early hours, in order to minimise the disruption to road users.

Local residents wishing to access Ferryfield Road or Ferryfield Drive may experience some delay in accessing their properties whilst works are being carried out directly adjacent to the Connel – Barran Road. This is a short section of the works and will again be limited to one night so it is hoped that these delays should be minimal. On-site supervision will be present to coordinate access through the works.

Out with the above working hours, traffic management will be removed and vehicles will be able to pass the site freely. Road users are reminded that they will be travelling over a temporary surface, however with the current 30mph speed restriction it is not envisaged that any issues should occur.

Unfortunately the works are weather dependant, should any delay be incurred due to inclement weather further communications will be issued.

BEAR Scotland and Transport Scotland wish to thank the local community for their continuing patience whilst we attend to these remedial works.
